Restructuring: Northern senators, governors to meet in Katsina

The Northern Senators’ Forum and the 19 Northern governors would on Monday converge on Katsina for a three-day retreat to deliberate on the agitations for restructuring of the country.

Chairman of the forum, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, advised  Newsmen in Abuja that the retreat would also concentrate on how you can improve the safety state of affairs in the country.
It will be recalled that for a similar purpose of agitations for restructuring and different challenges dealing with the country, Southern Senators met lately in Calabar.


Adamu stated that the Forum had written letters of invitation to the 19 governors, main traditional rulers, prime politicians and ex-senators from the region to make shows at the retreat.

He stated that the gathering would enable the senators, as the peoples’ representatives, to take a standard position on restructuring.
“It is anticipated that essential stakeholders will probably be attending. Northern governors shall be attending in solidarity and very eminent traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, will attend.

“Primarily, we shall be discussing the impression of price range in the north, the difficulty of restructuring which is now the primary situation in politics.
“The difficulty of restructuring that the Senate can develop a position on. It's a part of getting ready ourselves to face that problem.
“The difficulty of safety may also be discussed,” Adamu stated.

He pointed out that as representatives of the individuals, it might be anticipated that with the retreat, they might be better educated, better positioned to think about issues associated to the subject-matter.

“We might be higher ready to face the matter and legislate and make laws over them for the great governance of Nigeria.
“We consider we're there to teach ourselves to be higher knowledgeable, to change ideas on the subject material, because we make legal guidelines, we don’t make laws out of ignorance.

He explained that assembly in Katsina was not essentially due to the financial influence it will have on the town and state or how it will energise Nigeria’s politics, “but for some kind of our presence will make’’.
